Summary
"Occasionally, she’d visit him in his dreams. He hated it, every time. He’d drift off at his desk, ink and paper spread in front of him, all swirling together in a whirlpool of beige and black. And then she’d form in front of him, the ground beneath him turning to the clean brown lacquered wood of her ship. Nothing would ever happen - though, he wasn’t sure what he’d expected. He hadn’t dreamed since Jordie."
Or, she fell first, he fell harder, and Kaz is the biggest yearner in the history of yearning.

He’s like all the others, when they bring him in. More than half dead, covered in mud. Leg almost hanging off him, just a mess of torn flesh and exposed bone. Likely won’t survive. God knows Inej has seen better off than him succumb to their injuries.

Summary
Kaz had set aside his cane, hat and coat and he looked oddly delicate now, sitting beside her in his shirtsleeves and vest. His body was angled toward her as much as possible on the small sofa, holding her hand and keeping his bitter-coffee eyes trained on her face. His gloves were still on, but somehow she knew that it was due to the relative strangeness of her parents rather than to hide his hands from her. He held her hand so tightly that she could feel the little slits in the fingertips, little absences of contact from the leather covering the rest of her hand.

Summary
Ketterdam’s mist clung to the streets like a second skin, swallowing everything in its path. The city was a place of whispered bargains and broken promises, where everyone had something to hide and someone to betray. But what did a city built on secrets and shadows offer? For Kaz Brekker, it was simply a playground - a grimy, dangerous place that had no time for weakness.
Though the city knew it well, its underbelly was steeped in more than just crime and cruelty. Vampires roamed the shadows, their eyes gleaming in the dark, their fangs as sharp as their ambition. Kaz himself had been reborn, a creature of the night with no memory of the boy he once was. His history was buried beneath layers of blood and betrayal, but no matter how much time passed, his thirst never truly faded. A secret that twisted inside him, always on the edge of control.
But when the Merchant Council’s blood bank came under his scrutiny, Kaz realised just how deep the rot ran - and how far he’d have to go to scrub it clean. The Feeding Ground was an illegal operation that supplied the vampire elites. It was also the key Kaz needed to disrupt their power and reclaim control.
But to do so, he needed a crew.
