Summary
Adam’s uncanny resemblance to Will is what doomed him.
Will had spotted him and been struck by it, mind racing with possibilities as he followed his mirror-universe self from store to store. The biggest and most impossible to ignore was the idea that harvesting this man’s flesh would allow Hannibal a symbolic consumption, to consume Will in effigy, and it would allow Will to be consumed without losing himself.

It would be easy, technically. Swipe up, tap the name and hold the phone to his ear. He could say the words out loud. Not all of them. Just the beginning. Just, I’m not okay. He thinks of it in pieces. If he said that, if he let it out, Hannibal would understand. More than anyone else could. Maybe even more than Will himself.

“I know what you are, and I have proof,” Will said, swallowing thickly at something lodged in his throat. Fear, most likely. But perhaps something else. Perhaps the delightful feeling of his heart in his throat and the taste of power making saliva pool behind his teeth. “I’ve been following you. And I’ve got pictures.”
“I’m afraid I’m not certain what you’re referring to, though it is highly inappropriate for you to be stalking your psychiatrist,” Hannibal said, his words cool as he brushed a hand aside to straighten his files, concealing the brush of his fingers to a scalpel.
“Yes, you do. But I’m not going to turn you in. I’m telling you this so you’ll help me. I have someone I want you to kill.” His hands slid over his desk, away from the scalpel.
Or, Hannibal takes on a new patient, sixteen year old Will Graham who struggles with violent fantasies.
