Evan is a somewhat successful artist living in Manhattan -- life as a cartoonist is alright, but his lifestyle of staying inside his apartment all day working and eating crap ends up with Evan stepping on the scale one day weighing much, much heavier than he was a year ago.
But it's not that being fat upsets him; he just worries himself sick that everyone he knows is judging him over his weight gain. And to add on top of that, his best friend that he hadn't seen in a few years invites himself over to his apartment while he stays in New York.
