"Last time I was in a place like this, I was kidnapped and paralyzed." It comes out before he can stop himself, leaning against the fence as Shadow fumbles with the latch. "You planning on tying me up too?"
Sonic and Shadow have a weird relationship. Frenemies with benefits, maybe. When Shadow asks to take him home (to a secluded cabin in the woods and not a cave, as one might think), Sonic is scared he might want to make things official.
Luckily, all he wants is to use him until he begs to stop. Challenge accepted, because he's Sonic the Hedgehog, and he can't break.
Sonic may be in over his head.

Sonic has to physically stop himself from laughing when he glances over his shoulder. All of his hopes flush down the drain in his mind, metaphorical gates slamming back shut after ever so slightly cracking open.

Sonic just didn’t know what.
There was something different about Shadow. Sonic had thought he had a pretty good idea of the other's behaviours by now, after all they had worked together before. In fact, Sonic prided himself on just how well he knew Shadow, likely better than most.
--Sonic comes face-to-face with just how different he and Shadow really are. And he doesn't hate it.
Or: Sonic & Shadow are working together on a joint operation but Shadow's mating cycle hits suddenly. Sonic offers to help.
