Before he could allow the guilt to fully consume him, Phil skidded to a halt beside the stasis chamber, wasting no time in slamming down the spruce trapdoor hovering above the ender pearl and watching as it shattered into a million tiny, fragile pieces with a sound akin to the glass of a window breaking apart. He showed no reaction to the loudness of the sound despite the suddenness of it, simply staring transfixed with baited breath as a figure materialized before him.

All he could see when he closed his eyes was the rusted iron anvil dangling over his head, attached to a fraying rope, slowly beginning to draw closer and closer as time moved in slow motion. All he could feel was the steady creeping of terror into his heart and the cold wood of the totem clutched tightly in his hand- his one lifeline, his one shot at escaping with his life.

Summary
No one ever promised Technoblade safety before.
Plenty of people have offered him plenty of things, but they were always presented as deals. Techno gives himself to them in exchange for something: renown, his life, an escape route off a dying planet. It all seems the same after enough time, and this latest server is no different. The revolution that was supposed to come of it never did.
Techno is tired and done with it all. Frankly, he doesn't even care if there's an age minimum for retiring. If he wants safety, he obviously has to make it for himself.

Summary
Returning to their parents' home for the first time in a decade, Techno is forced to face too many of the bad memories and broken relationships that he has been trying to ignore all this time. Things like all the reasons they left their parents' house to begin with. And how his twin brother, who he hasn't seen in years, still seems to hate him. The thought of it all is enough to leave him close to meltingdown, let alone actually getting on the plane to go there.
Luckily for him, the plane never gets home.
