Raphael was anger and rage and the heat of a thousand fires. He's been used as a weapon to hurt his brothers, and has done things he could never forgive himself for. He was a monster.
That was why his father could never love him. He must have seen it too, the similarities that Raphael wished he could unsee the moment he realized it.
He was no better than the Shredder.
