Summary
From what I understand, the human brain is basically an electrical meatball. A very sophisticated meatball, to be sure, but still – organic.
That organic human neural tissue – unless very carefully cultivated under very specific laboratory parameters – doesn’t always play nicely with the non-organic bits. And even then, see example: me.
That wasn’t even including the fact that Gurathin had received his augments in the Corporation Rim and company equipment – see again: me – wasn’t exactly premium quality.

Summary
Jackson returns home after a month spent in London trying (and failing) to start the next phase of his life there. Knowing now from experience that he’d be a fool to try to make it as a werewolf on his own, he asks Derek to take him in as a beta. Derek agrees on the condition that Jackson will do as he’s told. Jackson hopes that, despite the mess left in the wake of the Kanima, he might be able to repair his life in Beacon Hills. “Come on!” Jackson growled back in reply, trying to be louder than the wind and rain as he grabbed Stiles’ hand. It was probably not the right time for Stiles to think of how awkward it was that Jackson linked their fingers together. It’s for survival, Stiles tells himself.
