Blood Cake is surrounded by political and psychological strife; the Ancients ultimately lost the battle at the end of the B-Y arc, although DE has been defeated (and fused with WL). Each Beast took their respective Ancient prisoner, though they each have very different plans for them. Blood Cake is not knowledgeable enough to understand the implications of the actions of the adults around her, but she isn't unaware that the people she cares about are upset. This story is told through her eyes.
