Summary
He’d taken a bad fall.
He was fine.
He’d be fine. At home. In his own bed. Alone.
But as always, the universe had no problems mocking him when he was down.
Tommy had glanced up when he heard the scuff of boots at the door, his jaw clenching as the move made the nausea churn in his gut at the same time the throbbing ache in his spine pulsed in time with his heartbeat. The same heartbeat that skipped at the sight of him.
“Hey!” Tommy croaked because apparently that was what his voice did now.
Evan looked good.
“Hi,” Evan said, quiet and simple.
Tommy has a near death experience and nothing says healing quite like being taken care of by your ex you never got over.

the past that haunts the present. see also: list of things that can be haunted: houses, furniture, dolls, and me by him.
Of all the ways his life could go to shit, amnesia wasn't one that Buck had ever really considered, but with the trajectory of his life, he probably should have seen this one coming. The world's still exactly the same as it was yesterday; the sky is blue, the sun rises East and sets West, he's surrounded by people who love him and—
Oh, right! He has a boyfriend.

Summary
Buck is exhausted. He’s on the tail end of a 48 that’s turned into a 52 after a massive pileup on the 5 and his 24 off got switched to a 12 because Maxwell’s wife is in labor, leaving A Shift short, but between finishing up at the scene and the drive back to his new place that 12 is looking more like 6.
Buck groans rubbing his forehead, that’s way too many numbers.
He’s tired, is the point. Which explains the paranoia and why he could swear that someone is watching him.
There's something on the moon, and it's reaching out.

Summary
Tommy shook his head, blushing even more. “Doesn’t hurt,” he murmured, burying his mouth in the rim of his coffee cup. “Opposite.”
“It feels good?” It was clear that Buck would have to keep this conversation going, Tommy shying away from it like never before.
“Bit too good,” he finally confessed. “I come real easy.”
“Y-yeah?” Buck asked, having to stop himself from asking, You promise?

Evan runs a hand through his hair. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” Tommy says, clearing his throat against the slight tickle. “I’m okay. Think I’ve just got a small cold coming on or something.”
Evan frowns and feels his forehead. “You don’t feel warm.”
“It’s okay,” Tommy assures him. “It’s probably nothing.”
“Okay,” Evan says eyeing him a little skeptically. “You’d tell me if it wasn’t?”
“Sure,” Tommy answers, avoiding Evan’s eyes as he takes another sip.
Or: Tommy ends up with a cold and finds he has more people in his corner than he realized.

Summary
"You look a little pale," Evan is saying, twisting Tommy's head side to side by his chin. "Are you sure you shouldn't just stay home?"
Tommy resists the urge to sigh because Evan's partially right. He doesn't feel great and he's not sure why, just feeling extra tired and a little sluggish, but he also knows how short-staffed they already are at Harbor. The last thing he wants to do is put them another man down.
"It's a full moon tonight, you know," Evan continues. "You know the shift is going to be crazy. You sure you wanna put yourself through that?"
He doesn't, really. But still. This time, Tommy does sigh, but he knows it's unbearably fond. "You know I don't believe in that stuff."
Or: Tommy should probably believe in the craziness of the full moon. Alternatively, Tommy Kinard's No Good Horrible, Very Bad Day.

Summary
“Can I help you?” Tommy asked, peering up and down the street to see if, perhaps, they needed help, wondering why they'd knock on his door out of all the houses on this street.
“Are you Thomas Kinard?” the boy asked, his voice a little deeper than Tommy had anticipated.
“Tommy. Yeah.”
The two kids exchanged a look.
“I'm Benny. This is Holly. Patrick Kinard is our father.”
Tommy's hand reached out for the door frame, trying to hold his body up as his knees threatened to give out. The world around him shifted, a violent, seismic tremor that ran through his very core. For a moment, he couldn't breathe.
And then Benny said, “You're our brother.”Series

Summary
Their hands grab at shirts and pants, and they pull away just long enough to toss their clothes aside before meeting in a messy kiss once more. It's been three weeks of sneaking around and stealing quick moments behind the trucks on scene or on the roof of the firehouse while the rest of A shift is asleep and falling into Bobby's bed late at night on their off days. Tommy knows this isn't sustainable, but he also can't imagine stopping.

Summary
Ever since he was fired from, and thankfully rehired to, the 118, Buck’s sworn off casual hookups. He's trying to brute force a cure for his (self-diagnosed) sex addiction by quitting cold turkey. It's going pretty well, except for one thing. No matter how much he jerks off, Buck still feels crazy horny. Unfulfilled. Left wanting.
Thankfully, Buck's favourite coworker, Tommy, has a solution for that: What if Buck didn't jerk off alone? It's not gay if you're just jerking off next to your bro, right?
