Jack was lightly dozing despite his pain when he heard Samira come home. He blinked his eyes open at the sound of the locks on his front door being undone, the door opening, and then the door being relocked. He pushed himself up to a sitting position, back against the headboard, as Samira walked to the bedroom.
Her hair was still clipped back. She came to his bedside, her bag on her shoulder.
Jack lifted his chin, a faint hope that he might get a kiss flickering in his chest.
“You skipped your PT appointment,” she stated.
He wasn’t getting a kiss.

She has spent her whole life being good and doing the right thing and putting others before herself.
So right now, she doesn’t care that her dress is now indecently riding up as her legs spread so she can straddle Jack’s lap. All she cares about is how Jack welcomes her immediately, his hands resting on her hips and his gaze burning into hers as she grasps his face in her hands, closes the gap and finally is able to kiss him with the vehemence of a woman starved.
