You check the time. Perfect. As intended, you’ve arrived fashionably late. What that means is they’ve got enough time to say goodbye, which makes your job a lot easier than it has any right to be.

Il matto
In the beginning, The Fool seeks his true path, his fate. There is no such thing for one who lives stuck in the same place, much like the heart is always caged in a bony torso.

Summary
We are genetically engineered. Everything about our life is, more or less, due to our genetic code. A couple of millennia ago, therefore, quite recently, a totally unexpected mutation occurred. It had changed the way we, as humans, perceive love. Everything comes down to the timer we are born with. It only stops when we find the one.

Summary
“Shiv and I were going to take a yacht out to some French island or another,” Tom says, waving his hand as though the island itself were arbitrary, something so unimportant that it could be decided by the throw of a dart. The breeze hits his face like a gentle spritz of cologne, the air smelling of salt and sea. Despite the nature of the conversation, brought about by digging into the burial site of his broken engagement with Shiv, and exacerbated by being asked to excavate the remains of that relationship’s grave for Greg’s enjoyment, Tom was finding the experience more cathartic than he would have thought he would have.
“We could go in the opposite direction,” Greg offers, looking hopeful. He opens his mouth to undoubtedly continue with his train of thought, but Tom is not so kind as to allow that.
“I already have,” says Tom while bouncing his sunglasses jauntily off the bridge of his nose and back onto it, “by marrying you.”

Summary
Shiv now rolls her tongue along the roof of her mouth and is astounded to feel a fat hair - yuck, it’s one of Mondale’s - writhe. She gingerly plucks it from where it has stuck to the inside of her cheek. No space is hers anymore. [...] An idea jumps on her without warning, such that she flinches sharply. Has Tom been letting Mondale out of Monjail and up into their bed when she’s not around? Is he only caged for show? Does the dog roam free?
~~~~~
Shiv sees the end of her marriage is in sight, but she hasn't been fired; she quits it first.
It’s been a minute since they’ve done this. He looks at Kendall for a long moment, wonders why he’s here. Wonders why he let him up, really, what this is anymore. The only answer he can come up with is that he wanted to. Always, he wants to.
Summary
“You’re the worst fucking person I know,” says Stewy, a hundred times over, in boardrooms and bedrooms and now, finally, in a speeding car on the interstate, and it’s not true, it’s never going to be true, not with Logan’s presence heavy in every room Ken has ever walked into in his entire fucking miserable stupid overshadowed life, but the declaration there is something else— a devotion, a wish.
“Fuck, I know, I know,” says Ken, the guilt threaded through his voice, and that isn’t it, that isn’t it at all.
Kendall and Stewy go on the road trip from (to) hell, hide out and freak out and stop avoiding the hard questions, and come to terms with what it means to pass the point of no return.
