Summary

When Steve demands to be assigned to the Winter Soldier case, Fury indulges him. After all, who’d be better at catching a super soldier than another super soldier, right? Steve is good at pulling off stuff nobody else can.
Stuff like restoring Bucky’s memory. Because during one of their encounters, the Winter Soldier puts his finger in Steve’s mouth, and Steve learns the second most important thing in his life.
While Bucky’s mind might not remember him, Bucky’s body certainly does.

Summary
If you think about it, it’s all Steve’s fault, really.
First, Steve brings his long-lost friend and murder cyborg James Barnes to Avengers Tower. Then, Steve doesn’t listen to Tony’s security concerns, despite the fact that the murder cyborg literally killed Tony’s parents and has been a prized HYDRA possession for several decades. And finally, Steve falls asleep.
And because it’s Steve, who does everything to the best of his impressive ability, like a good boy scout, he falls asleep so hard he can’t be woken up by anything, save for an unprompted magical intervention…
Oh. Oh, no.
No, no, no. Tony is not joining forces with the murder cyborg to save—
Oops, okay, alright, maybe he is. Damn you, Steve Rogers.

In this one, Bruce was only planning to neutralize an interdimensional threat. He didn’t plan on a rescue mission. He didn’t plan to take home a hurt, broken captive who may or may not be a version of the Clark Kent he knows. But now that he has, he needs to figure out what to do with him without putting the whole planet at risk.
It takes Clark a while to realize he hasn’t just traded one abuser for another, more dangerous one.
