Summary
The Southern Water Tribe was no place for a firebender...or even a Fire Prince for that matter. And yet here Zuko was, not only in the South Pole’s capital itself but in the Royal Palace, protecting the tribe’s Chief after a failed assassination attempt.
Chief Sokka, his old friend and a man who was intelligent and witty, yet kind of a dumbass. A man who was brave and strong and kind. A man who Zuko was utterly failing not to develop...personal feelings for.__
aka: a kind of roleswap AU with Southern Water Tribe Chief Sokka and bodyguard/mercenary Zuko.

Summary
Inspired by this Tumblr post https://captainkirkk.tumblr.com/post/628849887874842624/au-where-the-war-ends-for-reasons-fire-lord as well as the myriad of fics already written about it.
Hakoda, Chief of the Southern Water Tribe, is busy. He's mourning his wife, trying to reconcile that grief and his burgeoning relationship with his second-in-command, raising two pre-teens, and navigating a tenuous peace. He does not need anything else on his plate.
Unfortunately, the Spirits have other plans for him.
OR
A letter, a ship, and a child turn Hakoda's entire life upside-down again, not even one year after Kya's death.

Summary
Iroh never found Zuko under Lake Laogai, and Zuko was caught by the Dai Li in the middle of his Blue Spirit heist and brainwashed. He doesn't remember being a prince, or being banished, but that blue-eyed boy in his dreams sure is familiar.

Summary
"Can you at least explain how we ended up in the Fire Nation after the war? Or why I’m teaching some kid to throw a boomerang? Or why Zuko was holding my hand?" That last one tastes sour in his mouth. He’s about to fire off a few more, but Katara stops him.
“No, Sokka. That’s what I’m saying. That’s exactly what we can’t do.”
“Well why don’t you just waterbend heal me? Swish swash, two minutes, all better!” he proposes.
“Sokka, I just told you we can’t rush this. Do you want me to mess up your head?”
“Well you’ve never had any problem hitting me in the head with water before now!"
After waking up from a training accident with no memory of the past seven years, Sokka is desperate for answers. But any wrongly triggered memory could risk permanent brain injury. No one will answer his questions about his new life. No one will talk about whatever weird thing is going on between him and Zuko.
Luckily Sokka is the greatest detective and most brilliant mind of his generation (according to himself).
Five times Detective Sokka discovers something he didn't expect plus one time he puts it all together.

Summary
Soulmates are chosen by the spirits and can hear each other’s thoughts. Sokka thinks it’s cheesy and dumb. Zuko thinks it’s poetic justice that he doesn’t have one because he doesn’t deserve it. Cruel irony is finding out that the prince of the Fire Nation (and the person currently hunting you) is your soulmate.
(Set during and after the events of ATLA, and during some of the events of the comics that follow. This was an excuse to write a slow-burn where Sokka and Zuko are soulmates)
