Soulmarks don’t just appear on the skin, they have to be inked by someone with the Sight. It's a very prestigious calling and one not many have the gift for. Keith is a tattoo artist who got into scamming Soulmarks as a way to get him out of his group home. He’s good at it too; he doesn’t just go around tattooing whatever he feels like. He’s a matchmaker and his matches are good, damn it. No one has a 100% success rate though, so when someone starts to get suspicious or he starts attracting too much attention, he simply picks up shop and moves on. It works for him. He's doing good work. He is!
Unfortunately, the Soulmark Enforcement Bureau does not agree.
With an agent on his trail and closing in fast, Keith really doesn't have time for things like relationships or the man at his gym who seems determined to become friends. It's getting harder and harder to remember that, however, when everything about Shiro calls to Keith like a moth to a flame.

Pidge heeds Lance's command, and soon she, Hunk, and Shiro are all on their knees, scratching and cutting at the earth, searching for a flash of color amidst the cool rocks and soil. “It's an impermote,” Allura explains as they dig. “A microscopic parasite that feeds on emotion. It's using Keith's memories to illicit a more powerful emotional response.”

So Keith got what he came for, the little black book no one was ever meant to find, and stopped snooping.
Because now, he’ll have someone else to do all the snooping for him.
The situation isn’t ideal, Keith thinks as he slits his palm open and methodically draws the pentagram on the floor, placing the necessary items one by one into each point of the star. But considering the circumstances, he thinks he’s done alright for himself. More importantly, for Shiro.

Ed had learned young that pirates that survive, don’t ask for help. Especially not when they’ve taken an injury. He’d seen plenty of men put down just for showing the slightest weakness. But age, nor time, doesn’t help keep pain at bay.
So, after three weeks on Bonnet’s ship, Ed’s knee is about ready to do him in. The constant charades that kept the crew both amused and amusing give no time to accommodate an easily angered knee. A knee that had taken years of injuries, and no longer needed a specific injury to kick off day long bouts of excruciating pain. No, these days it just took too much humidity or a slightly wobbly floor board or too many days without a break. Some days, it took nothing at all. That was just the way it was.

"I know the two of you were going through a bit of a rough patch when I first met you, but I'd thought things were on the mend between the two of you. Is that what this is about?"The frown grew deeper. "What does Izzy have to do with anything?"
Stede blinked, non-plussed. "Well, he's your husband," he said, like that was something completely normal to say. "He's a rather vital aspect to your marriage, I would have thought."
Ed boggled at him. "What? Izzy and I aren't married."
Stede blinked again, his face softening with gentle concern. "Oh. I– I'm so sorry, Ed, I didn't realise you'd divorced."
"What?" Ed said again, feeling like they were speaking different languages. "We didn't get divorced."
Stede looked even more confused, which honestly made two of them. "Oh? But– how–"
It felt bonkers that he had to clarify this, but– "Izzy and I've never been married, Stede."

He’d spent more than one afternoon reading about luxurious castles made of leaves and trees, of songs and music and love found while being utterly lost. “Hey,” Ed says to him. He doesn’t look over.
“Hey,” he answers.
“So, uh, it’s almost time, right? Starting to catch a whiff of it, I think.”
Izzy sighs long and slow. “Yeah,” he answers, nerves clear in his voice.
“So, Lucius, he seems like a good alpha. Think you could trust him with it?” he asks, voice low.
Izzy turns to face Ed, blinking at him. He should’ve seen it coming. He remembers Ed asking him what he thought of the boy, if he found him attractive. At the time he’d been confused as to Ed’s intentions, answering uncertainly until it seemed Ed was pleased that he did have a certain attraction to the younger alpha. He does. But they’re talking about Izzy’s heat. He’s not sure why Lucius matters when the alpha whose bonding mark is on his neck is two feet in front of him. Part of him wonders if it’s a test.
“Lucius…” He repeats. He takes in a breath. “You said…”
“I know what I said.” Ed’s voice is suddenly cold and Izzy feels it wash over him like freezing water. He looks down, slumps his shoulders, and Ed swallows. “That’s why I think this is best, Iz. I don’t—That wasn’t…I’m trying to un-say it, now.”

I’m sorry,” he says again, in a sob, and Ed’s scent changes to something strange. His head moves over to look at Izzy, as best as he can in the dark. Though with all that time spent in his dark cabin on the Anne, maybe he can see Izzy better than Izzy can see him.
“Why do you keep saying that?” he asks, voice coming out wet and small. “It’s not—this isn’t—you haven’t done anything wrong, Iz.” He sounds almost pleading.

I wrote this for the #IzzyIsMe2 event! I wanted to challenge myself to write it all in one shot, and I also wanted to pile all of my trust issues onto him. I think I succeeded at both.

Hell, Izzy had found a bouquet of roses sitting on the kitchen counter once that had his name on them instead of Stede’s. Before Ed could get embarrassed, Izzy had replaced the tag with one with Stede’s name on it. When Stede found it, Ed had seemed tense for some reason. He’d probably realized his mistake, and he was upset with Izzy for not warning him.
