Summary
The moment they got home and seven-year-old Tim introduced nine-year-old Cassandra to the concept of Batman and Robin, she knew she would be just like them one day. She was a weapon, built only to hurt and take and hurt and take and hurt, of course she would fall in love with the idea of using her lessons to make life better for others, to help them.

Summary
Tim finishes brushing his teeth and leans to spit the toothpaste out if his mouth. Something about the container tugs at his brain; he recognizes the white lid from somewhere, but he needs a closer look to really tell where. He rinses his mouth quickly, dries his hands, and then turns to inspect it closer.
He immediately decides he's going to blame the fact that he didn't recognize a clearly labeled sharps container on how late it is.

Summary
Flight is of utmost importance to most of the world due to the fact that ninety-nine percent of people develop fully functional wings during childhood. The muscular structures needed to support them are the last thing to develop pre-birth, but the actual limbs don't start to grow until after. The process starts around age one to three, and by age six to eight, most children have finished the initial growth and are at a point where they can start learning how to use their new limbs.
It's time for Ellie to Start learning to use hers.

Summary
Tim Drake knows how to Handle Things, capital letters implied and on purpose. He has been Handling Things since he was six and his parents fired his last nanny. Timothy Drake feels as though he should have a PHD in Handling Things by now.
If raising himself didn't give him the tools to Handle It, then his years as Robin should have done so. Between Lady Shiva, Batman's skewed perception of the line between psychological torture and training, whatever the fuck young justice is up to this week, and having an eldritch being as a soulmate, he was startlingly sure that he had maxed out his Handling Things stat.
It's a little pathetic that all it took to prove him wrong was two incredibly unlucky hours.
It's time for plan B (the B stands for Bottle).
Tim takes a breath and with it he breathes in every messy thing, every emotion, every hurt, every realization, every worry, and he pictures slamming the lid of a luggage trunk on the writhing mass of it before chaining it closed and dropping it into the depths of the gotham harbor. Sayonora asshole, Tim Drake is now a robot and his only command is to save Danny Phantom's goddamn life.

Summary
A child's first soul bond is, generally speaking, with their birth mother. Of the children that don't form this connection, most go on to form their first bond sometime in the first year of their life. It's a physiological need- most cases of babies dying from Failure to Thrive are children who don't get that first bond.
Of those that survive, three distinct groups emerge. Those that form their first bond between ages one and five usually end up relatively healthy despite finding it harder to form bonds at all and having a lower number of them then average over the course of their life. Those that don't have that need met within the first five years of their life make up the other two groups. Most of them are unable to form bonds at all. The small percentage left will only ever form unreciprocated bonds as easy as breathing.
