“Sorry just paying for…”
“Table 12! I remember,” she injects brightly whilst ringing him up.
Eddie only winces slightly at the final count of the bill as he reaches into his wallet for his card.
“You have a gorgeous family.”
Eddie feels his face split into a wide grin. “Thank you,”
“How long have you and your husband been together?”
The words rattle around in Eddie’s head for a moment as he stammers like a fool, mid-swipe of his card. “I—Uh, seven…seven years.”
The waitress smiles brightly. “That’s so sweet, have a great rest of your day, sir.”
“Uh, yeah. Thanks.” Eddie places a fiver in the tip jar and spins right on his heels, leaving the cafe in a rush.
Who did she—did she mean? Buck?
OR
Eddie finds out how many times people have thought he and Buck were together and promptly spirals, realising that he wants to make it a reality.

Summary
“Ah, I’m sorry, buddy,” Buck responds with an apologetic smile. “We’ve gotta follow the recipe. It already has the perfect amount of chocolate chips in it, trust me.”
Chris sighs and resumes his careful stirring of the mixture in front of him.
“Okay, fine,” he grumbles.
Eddie’s impressed—it seems like Buck’s learning.
But then, when he thinks Eddie’s not looking, Buck sneaks a small handful of chocolate chips to Chris, popping a few in his own mouth with a sly wink and a shared giggle between them.
Eddie bites his lip, holding back a laugh at their antics.
or; Buck comes over to help Eddie and Chris bake chocolate chip cookies, and Eddie sort of has a speedrun of a feelings realization.

Summary
“So, while we’re stuck in here together…”
Buck freezes.
“...can we talk about it?”
Shit.
“Talk about what?” He keeps his voice casual, light. Hopes that he can feign ignorance and somehow stop whatever’s going to happen. Eddie sees right through that. Obviously.
“Buck.” He nudges Buck’s calf with the toe of his boot. Still doesn’t pull his leg away. Buck’s eyes snap up, like he’s following some unspoken command from Eddie—'look at me.'
“Eddie.” Fine, if Eddie wants to talk, they can, but Buck’s not going to make it easy. Nothing about this is easy. Maybe if he’s annoying enough, he’ll drop it.
“I came out to you three days ago and you ran out of my house.”
or; Buck and Eddie get locked in a safe, which wouldn't be that big of a deal...except Buck's been actively avoiding Eddie. Kinda hard to do that when you're locked in a space together.

Summary
“I’m still a firefighter,” Eddie says adamantly. “That hasn’t changed.”
“But you have,” Buck counters. “You used to be the one who talked sense into me. You were the guy who made me think twice. But since you got back from Texas, you’re the one being stupid and reckless. Running into fires against orders, diving off fifty foot bridges--”
“You know, you’re such a hypocrite,” Eddie steps forward, jabbing an accusatory finger into Buck’s chest. “You would have done exactly the same thing if I hadn’t done it first.”
OR: Buck confronts Eddie about his recent recklesness.

Summary
Chimney’s face does something complicated. “You’re… roommates,” he repeats.
Buck nods enthusiastically. “Yep. Roommates.”
Hen doesn’t blink. “You’re holding hands because you’re roommates.”
Ravi slowly stands up, still clutching his toast. “I have had roommates,” he says carefully, “and I have never held their hand.”
Eddie’s eyes narrow. “That’s sad for you.”
Or Eddie just wants to hold Buck's hand and everyone is being weird about it
