Eddie nods.
“I’m telling you now, even though I know it’s pointless, because you never listen to anything I say. Ever.”
Eddie nods again.
“Please. I am begging you. Do not fuck our new roommate.”
“Why the fuck would you say that?” Eddie hisses, cheeks aflame again. “What is wrong with your-”
“That’s all I’m saying,” Gareth interrupts airily, hands up in mock surrender. “No further objections. You’re just a natural disaster, and I’d rather keep the apartment a conflict free zone, so.”---
Eddie and Gareth require two new roommates (must be okay with illegally housed cats, must be chill with late night band practices). Robin and Steve require a place to live, and have little to no other options.
Months down the line, Eddie still finds himself tongue tied and avoidant around his very hot-probably-straight-weirdly-intense new cohabitation buddy, which is all very well and good- until they end up snowed in together during a powercut, and are forced to get a little cozy together <3 -

He lifts the shaker, snapping his wrist so the ice rattles sharp and loud over his shoulder. The cold metal bites into his palm. "So, what's your name, newbie?"
"Steve." Eddie strains the cocktail into a waiting glass, the liquid settling smooth and pale. He slides it across the bar. Steve watches it like it might detonate, fingers hovering before he finally wraps them around the glass. "Yours?"
"Eddie." He taps the bar once, twice, then leans forward against it, the edge pressing into his hips.
"And just so you know, Steve, if you're gonna order drinks with names like that, you gotta own it. Look 'em dead in the eye. Show no fear. We prey on weakness round here." He smiles, slow and crooked, enjoying the way Steve's shoulders tense and relax all at once.OR: I got sad that Eddie never got to see Steve in his S5 epilogue outfit and his stupid corduroy jacket so I made them fuck about it

Eddie was immediately intrigued, sitting up slightly and taking a drag, his eyes locked onto Steve. He blew out the smoke in Steve’s direction before smirking at him. “Well? Don’t leave me hanging, Stevie, I must know what’s going on in that beautiful noggin of yours.”
An idiotic grin pulled at Steve’s lips from the ridiculous compliment as he waved away the smoke. “Okay, but remember that it’s stupid.” He ran a hand through his hair, trying to figure out exactly how to word this idea that he didn’t even quite realize was going to involve Eddie until he’d spoken. “So you know how Dustin is like determined that me and Robin should be dating?”
Eddie’s eyes narrowed a little, leaning back again. “Yeah?”
“And you know how Valentine’s Day is coming up?”
Eddie hit the joint again, expression unreadable. “You need me to help you ask Robin out?” he asked.
“What? No– Fuck, I started that wrong…”
