Summary
For a moment, Lo’ak is confused. She’s still standing next to him, both having stopped several feet from where Sa’ata had landed. Her voice is trembling, eyes full of tears, hand coming up to cover her mouth in horror at something. He thinks she’s come to the same conclusion that he did— Spider is missing, but the way she starts shaking her head in denial makes him question what she’s seeing that he isn’t.
Continuation of "because the last time you saw me (is still burned in the back of your mind)" where Jake goes through with it, Neytiri doesn't stop him, and now they need to face their children.

Summary
All he wanted to do was swallow past the bitterness and escape into sleep, no matter how dreamless. It was too late when he realized what had been offered to him was not mercy, just another leash. All they had to do was dangle the threat of leaving him another night without rest and he was complacent, keeping his mouth shut past witty and sharp-tongued replies, or apologizing with the smallest prompt.
Or, everything Spider went through left him with severe insomnia and a dependence on sleep aids.

Summary
If he could stay in one moment forever, this might be the one that Spider would pick. Surrounded by his favorite people, bathed by sunlight, where war can’t touch them, and they are all on even ground. Everything is perfect, except for one small thing.
“Spi?” Tuk asks, voice hesitant in the way that tells him what she’s going to bring up. “I miss you. All of the time.”
Or, the remaining Sully kids find out what happened to Spider.

“Spider, wait!”
He whips his head back to the treeline, where Jake is stumbling out of the forest, coming to his own stop at the way Spider throws his hands up as if to push him back. He’s left as the midpoint between the trees and the edge, out of options.
“I’m sorry, kid, let me just,” Jake heaves for air, as out of breath as he is. “It’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you.”

“Hey, little brother,” Neteyam smiles.
Spider sputters, half laughing, half sobbing at the old joke. They would always argue back and forth as to who was really the oldest. Before, at least, when Neteyam hadn’t pushed him away in the name of responsibility.
“How?” He asks.
“You tell me.” Neteyam’s grin fades, replaced by a weary sadness that looks wrong on his young face. “I didn’t think I would see any of you here for a long time. Had hoped, anyway.”

Neytiri stilled. Slowly, deliberately, she turned to face him, golden eyes sharp with exhaustion and something like disbelief. “You will not say this.”
Jake didn’t raise his voice. Didn’t look away. “If I don’t, the Sky People will never stop.”

In the aftermath of the battle at Three Brothers Rocks, no one has time to check on Spider, and the last thing Spider wants is to be more of a burden than he already is. All he has to do is survive, as he always has.

Summary
Spider had always been different from the other humans.
Ever since Mo'at had first met the boy, who stood between Kiri and Lo'ak, clutching both of their hands in his much smaller ones with a shy smile on his face behind the clear glass of his mask, she had known this to be true.
The scientists, even those with Dreamwalkers, forever had a lingering clumsiness when navigating Eywa'eveng. They lacked the balance and stamina needed to run along the large, winding branches that served as the forests' pathways, and they hadn't the strength required to climb the trees and vines that acted as ladders for the Na'vi.
There was something about their spirits that felt...lacking. It did not make them any less of a people, nor did it mean they were not treasured friends and allies, but they always simply felt so...separate. Wooden beads amongst stone.
Except for Spider.
Or Spider was never kidnapped, but neither did he leave the clan alongside the Sully family. There's only one person who feels their absence as keenly as he does. This changes many things.
