Summary
He focuses on what he can – the fragile edelweiss flowers in the mountains; all his children around him, that day he heard them singing and finally allowed them back into his heart; the sight of Maria in her wedding dress, and knowing, deep in his bones, that he loves her and needs her and that she challenges him every day; and the fact that while Austria, the old Austria, his Austria, may no longer exist, they do, by the grace of God, have a place of refuge.

Summary
His throat tightens with grief. "But Elphaba Tigelaar, if I can then I'll return to you, my Witch, my wife."
"Now go." Tormented with anguish, she looks like someone cleaved her in two with a sword. "For Liir's protection, take him away from me."
There are consequences to Fiyero's wedding night spent with another woman. A green child, for one.
[Inspired by "The World As We Know It" by elphabaoftheopera.]

Summary
And then she saw it — the shattered edge of the path.
A broken shelf of ice and stone, like something had collapsed.
And beneath it, half-buried in snow, a dark shape.
“No,” she whispered. “No, no, no—”
She scrambled down the slope, slipping, half-falling, catching herself with hands that stung from the cold. Her knees hit the snow hard as she reached him.
“Fiyero—!”
Or,
Fiyero didn’t really know when he fell — from the ridge or for her — only that both hurt like hell, and that Elphaba’s hands, shaking and warm with magic and fury, were the only thing that ever caught him.
