Back at the camp, he found Reyna seated on the coach of the principia. She was slowly flipping over the Mythomagic cards, but it was clear she wasn’t planning. Or even really looking at them.
“Jason is gone,” Octavian said.
“He’s just out for a walk.”
“What happened?” he demanded.
Reyna looked up at him, frowning. “If you have to know, I asked him out and he said no.”
“Oh,” he stepped back. “When was that?”
“Before the storm front hit.”
“And now? Do you know where he is?”
“He went for a walk.”
“He’s not on a walk.”
“What are you talking about, Octavian?”
“Jason is gone.” And he left me behind.A Retelling of HoO from Octavian's perspective. Octavian is a pretty nothing character, but that gives me all the more room to write my headcanons! One thing I will say - is Octavian tries. He tries so damn much.

Summary
*Retelling of the scene where Octavian admits Bryce into the legion, but from Octavian's POV*
Octavian didn't expect Bryce to show up. His vision into the future had gone. He had no time to prepare for this vestige of his past to return. And with the worst intentions. But ulitimately, Bryce is an easy problem to solve. Octavian's friendship with Mike? Not so much.
[A smattering of headcanons, but did my best to keep to canon. All the dialogue and actions remain the same - just elaborating on what we already know about the various Roman characters. Note: Small amount of swearing.]

I have thought about the character of Octavian too much in recent months. Some might say to the point of obsession. But here we are.
If you ever wanted to try and make sense of the character of Octavian - this is a good place to start. Of course, it's my own reading of the books so you're welcome to have another conclusion.

Summary
The Valkyrie chose from the slain, finding warriors and heroes to fight against the armies of Ragnarok. And sometimes they pick up slain from the other pantheons - after all, if they aren't headed to Elysium, why to take them on board to fight what is to come?
After sacrificing himself to kill Gaia, Octavian finds himself outside of a strange building in Boston. There were a lot of places he thought he might end up when he died. The Germanic afterlife known as Valhalla? Not one of them.
[NOTE: This fic was semi-abandoned. That being said, I have written notes for each chapter all the way up to the ending, which is why it's marked as complete. So chapter 1-14 are fully complete. Then the rest are notes.]

Reyna was the last person to see Jason alive.
Octavian is the only one to understand what happened. After all, political assassinations aren't that uncommon.
