"Namgyu can’t feel anything. Not rage. Not sorrow. Just a flat silence inside his head, like someone’s switched him off at the core. His wrist is raw, deep red where he’d pulled and twisted against the steel without realizing it. He cradles it in his lap. It doesn’t even hurt—just looks wrong. He stares at it like it belongs to someone else. Around him, the guards blur—masks sliding on, camcorders snapping shut—but his brain refuses to stitch the images together. Like frames from a film out of order.
Daeho is still crying.
Namgyu doesn’t want to move. Doesn’t want to breathe. But something in him—something stubborn and scared—forces him to stand. Dae-ho buries his head in his knees. One job. He had one goddamn job, and he blew it. They’re dead now because he couldn’t get them that goddamn ammunition. Dead, dead, dead.
The word echoes in his mind like a mantra, haunting and daunting and all the things he doesn’t want to think about.
Hyun-ju had been staring at him from the corner of the room, and the fact that she didn’t seem to be mad made it even worse. Jun-hee had sat next to her, twiddling with something in her fingers, staring at it blankly. It’s the look his sisters would make after hearing their dad get into the millionth screaming match with their mom. It’s detached. Empty.

(Yeah so there’s negative ten daeho angst fics so here I am with copium hoping he stays alive and lives even though this is motherfucking squid game nobody gets to live except for gihun so im writing this angst fic as a daeho predeath memorial)
