Summary
“I want to die.”
That gets his attention — Gustave’s eyes fly wide open, and he takes a step back. Like Verso is a lunatic who is better to be avoided. “I beg your pardon?”
“I want to die,” Verso repeats. “And I can’t do it on my own. You’re one of the smartest men in Lumière, you’re good with chroma. I need your help.”
Or: Verso is trying to find a way out. Gustave helps.

Summary
When Jack is about halfway finished, buttered up with good food, Robby begins, "So, you have another night off..."
The other man stops mid-bite.
"Do you... want to spend the night? You know, winding down together, maybe watching a movie, sleeping in the same bed."
"Haven't done that before."
"I know," he says. The food waits patiently underneath him, and he wishes he'd drunk a little more liquid courage, because then he'd at least be better at selling it.
Or,
For the first time, Michael Robinavitch and Jack Abbot spend the night together. They don't know if they're going to make it work, but the only way to have it start working is to start.

"Struggling with all that time alone to self-reflect already?"
Robby isn't expecting the sudden rush of homesickness that hits him the minute he hears Jack's voice.
He's only been gone a week.
******
Robby goes on his motorbike roadtrip/sabbatical and while he looks for purpose out on the road, Jack is often on his mind.

Summary
They say doctors make the worst patients. They say 'do as we say, not as we do'. They eat junk food, smoke, work long, stressful hours, and never get enough sleep. It's amazing they don't end up on the gurney instead of standing beside it more often.
The problem, Robby finds, with running a tier 1 level trauma centre is that your own health is often pushed right to the bottom of a very long priority list.

Robby tries to hide his illness from everyone, including Jack. It doesn't go well.Bookmarked by creaturebeast

Summary
Robby has spent years filing his feelings for Jack away under safer guises— friendship, companionship, collegial affection— because those nomenclatures demanded nothing of him, required no explanation, threatened no irreversible shift in the careful architecture of their relationship, both inside and out of the hospital.
The term he kept coming back to, though, was brother.
