Summary
In the throws of dragon sickness, Thorin is becoming increasingly unstable and uncaring towards those he’s grown dear to. Now, on the brink of winter and war, he struggles to fight off the growing madness and hides away in the depths of Erebor. There, Past, Present, and Future blur together as Thorin Oakenshield travels across his lifespan and beyond in order to break out of his inherited curse and save his abandoned home. But will the royal dwarf be able to rid himself of such a deep-seated illness? Or will it be the end of the Line of Durin? Only he can decide, along with the help of a particularly clever burglar.

Summary
“I thought dwarves could see in the dark because they’re miners,” Bilbo said, unsure why he suddenly felt so on edge.
“I’m not talking about darkness as in a lack of light,” Thorin snapped, then took a deep, hitching breath, closing his eyes as he did. “I’m talking about darkness as in nothing, Burglar. I see nothing. I have lost my sight.”During their escape on the eagles, one of them is shot down by the orcs and both Bilbo and Thorin plummet to the earth. After their crash landing, Bilbo wakes to find their ride flightless and the dwarven King gravely injured. Not only that, but the fall has caused him to go blind and forces the regal leader to rely on the hobbit for guidance. Together, they trek across Middle Earth, hoping to catch up to the others. But their journey is now more perilous than ever and Bilbo’s never been this far from home. All they can do is trust each other and hope that they make it to the Lonely Mountain before Durin’s Day lest the quest fail.

Summary
After the Battle of the Five Armies, a rumor about an invisible menace spreads to Erebor and worries the returning dwarves of something else stealing their home again. To alleviate their concerns, Thorin takes it upon himself to go and figure out why these rumors are tied to the Lonely Mountain and how he can make sure they're not a realistic threat. To his surprise, they bring him to Bree where a familiar hobbit now runs a hobbit dedicated tavern. The two of them parted ways on tense terms and so they now have to work through their unsteady relationship in order to tackle this growing darkness now tied to Bilbo himself. Little do they know, they're about to embark on yet another dangerous quest that will either make or break them as well as save or destroy all of Middle Earth.
