Summary
Grian and Scar are roommates, found through an online ad because housing prices are horrible and they can’t afford one alone. They get along alright, but don’t spend too much time together.
Things change when Grian manages to corner the vampire he’s been chasing after for ages, only to unfortunately discover that said vampire is Scar. Neither are particularly happy about the realization since they both want to kill the other but also need the other to afford their apartment.
Scar eventually offers a truce, neither of them mention what the other is and neither will kill the other. Since Grian doesn’t want to face the pain of finding a new roommate again, he agrees.

Summary
What started out as a joke quickly turned into something more devastating.
None of the Hermits were excited for this exchange program, in honesty it sounded stupid to force them out of their well comforted school and home. Scar's friends weren't exactly happy he was the one picked for their social experiment either.
It ended up leading to a rabbit hole of a missing person's case, a teacher's suspicious death, ghosts, and a boy who adamantly refuses to where his uniform.
Scar didn't expect to uncover a cold case when he changed schools.
Or: A combination of the YHS lore where the hermits are able to intervene and help Grian.

And Scar can tell she says it on purpose, he can see the smugness in the way her lips tilt up, he can see the satisfaction in her eyes. She knows she had him trapped before she even spoke.
He decides, quite easily, that if he is willing to do this for Grian, then he is also willing to do this for Pearl.
Or, Scar finds himself wrapped up in centuries-old customs that are much larger than himself. No one is surprised when he stumbles into love.
