Summary
When Jim and Spock meet as teenagers on Tarsus IV and endure unspeakable horrors together, it seems like nothing can separate them. Until, that is, Jim is forced to burn every last trace of himself from Spock’s mind to keep him safe. Years later, Jim is still a smoldering husk, but it seems amnesia has been good to Spock. To remind him of the world they built together before the famine—and of how it ended—would be too cruel. Wouldn’t it? But when Starfleet tasks the Enterprise with hunting Kodos down, old scars will be torn open and hidden secrets will come to light, forcing Jim and Spock to reconsider everything they thought they knew about their shared history on Tarsus IV.

Summary
Silence.
Jim pulls back the comm to look at the little screen. They’re still connected.
“Spock?” He asks. Nothing. Jim is about to snap the comm closed in frustration, when he hears a ragged inhale.
“You’re on a roof?” Spock’s voice is deadly soft, flat and hard and…something else that Jim’s brain won’t process. Jim rolls his eyes. He grabs another drink and wrestles it open, taking three large swigs before he bothers responding.
~~~
After the events of ST:ID, Jim calls Spock from a rooftop. Spock misunderstands.
Summary
He woke to the feeling of heat on his face and pressure on his chest. A groan built in his throat, but he didn’t voice it. Quiet, always quiet, and still. Don’t move until you know what you’re moving into. Make no sound until you know who’s there to hear you. He breathed in scorched air and opened his eyes.
His vision blurred the flames leaping out of the window above him, but the thick smell of smoke shot him through with enough alarm to move his aching body. Something heavy slipped off his stomach as he sat up, and he blinked to focus on the object beside him.
An arm, limp, connected to a bloody shoulder. Glassy eyes stared from a face he didn’t know, mouth open, cheek pressed into the concrete.
Or: Eliot wakes up on the floor of a parking garage beside a dead man, with no memory of who he is or what happened to the other man. He only knows two things for certain: someone is trying to kill him, and he's not going to wait around for it to happen.
Or or: The author reread a western and decided to make it everyone else's problem.
So good. Amazingly well-written. Great characters. Reichenbach situation at the beginning, but it works out.
Summary
As she stood in the snow debating whether or not she could find a step ladder to help things along she heard a gruff male voice ask, “Need some help?”
It wasn’t often that someone could sneak up on her but her guard was down and she’d been so lost in her conundrum that she hadn’t heard any approaching footsteps. It was on the tip of her tongue to say ‘yes, please,’ but as she turned to thank her would be savior the smile slid off her face and a frown took over.
“Lieutenant Tucker?” she asked in confusion. If it wasn’t him then it was a damn good doppelganger.
"I think you'll find I haven't lost anything," Liv says. "But, instead, have been given the opportunity to showcase that this department is responsible for growing talent that can answer the call when national security is on the line."
The way Liv rattles it off, Amanda can tell it's a close, if not direct, quote from someone, and she rolls her eyes.
"This is bullshit and you know it," Amanda says, floundering for another opening. "What about the girls? I'm just supposed to not see my kids for three weeks? There's no way I'm doing that."
"Rollins – Amanda," Liv says, and sighs. "It'll get worked out. This kind of assignment doesn't just happen. They didn't draw straws or anything random, you and Carisi were 'carefully selected from a variety of male-female pair nominations against a set of criteria developed to ensure mission success.'"
(an undercover-as-married fic, set before they get together canonically, because they get together here)
The ways in which this potential pregnancy would be different from her first are apparent almost immediately.
Because she just peed on a stick, it's, like, still wet, and the guy responsible for whether that stick tells her one word or two –
( – or, at least, partially responsible, because, well, she was there, too – )
– is standing next to her.
And, also, uh.
It's Carisi.
So, that's new.
He'd talked – Jesus Christ, had he talked – mostly about nothing, but enough that there hadn't been space to feel weird, to really take stock of the circumstances they'd found themselves in.
Something she honestly probably should have done.
Because – the day before, ducking by her for a donut in an empty breakroom, he'd rested his hand so, so low on the back of her hip, almost-but-not-quite the top of her ass, and she hadn't exactly jumped away.
He was clearly dipping another toe in the water, she knew they'd been…touching, knew that this wasn't some random workplace harassment, and when he'd gone for a slightly bigger splash, she'd let him.
(Maybe she'd splashed him back a little, shifting her weight into his hand for a moment, catching the smell of his cologne in the air.
Maybe.)
(She had.)
"There's been a credible threat to your life," Benson says.
It's said clearly, and with concern, and it stops Amanda short. She'd thought this was a dressing down, something totally different, and in response, all she can muster is –
"What?"
It's been a couple months of nice – nice in the polite, friendly way he's nice with most people, nice like she's never had an ex-boyfriend treat her before.
Not nice like lazy Saturday mornings, the breakfast they'd ordered retrieved from the doormat in sweatpants and rumpled, threadbare t-shirts.
Not nice like the way he'd wrap his arms around her waist and drop his head to her chest when she brought him a sandwich while he worked at the kitchen table.
Not nice like sleep-warm skin and soft kisses and the smell of his cologne on the scarf she grabbed heading out the door.
"Pin me to the wall," Amanda had said, leaning over from where she was sitting next to him on the sofa in the club. Her lips just barely brushing the skin below his ear with the words, as Kristoff had pawed at the woman in the red dress.
It felt like a train suddenly jumping tracks, like some subroutine kicked in – he was familiar enough with this part of interacting with a woman, some collision of his libido and being a cop, and he'd just…done it.
He'd pinned Rollins to the wall, swiftly and smoothly, up and off the end of the couch, which didn't even have an armrest and probably cost more than every piece of furniture he’s ever owned combined.
"What? No. Why would we have had a conversation? We didn't need one. Like what, like you're just gonna adopt my kids, Sonny?"
She says it in a voice like it's absurd, because it is – he's a good-looking, single, NYPD detective, with a law degree. He makes a great uncle, and she's just gonna die and saddle him with two kids that aren't his own to raise?
Hardly.
But he's – he's not looking at her like it's absurd.
And then he shrugs. It's a small gesture, self-conscious, like he's admitting something.
He saw the cracks in her armor and made an offer she couldn't refuse: her peace in exchange for her submission. But when a malicious threat rises from her past, their unorthodox arrangement is put to the ultimate test, forcing them to learn the difference between a contract and a covenant.
This is heavy D/s. Please be careful in here, especially if you are sensitive about D/s or BDSM themes or topics, the respect they demand from all parties, or rigid characterization. You will probably not enjoy this.
When C mentioned he originally wrote the rescue of Sad Eyes in the end of OC 5x02 to include M, my mind started spinning and it didn't stop until I started writing this. I wish SVU had given her those extra days of shooting, but since they suck, I guess this will have to suffice.
