Ten, wonderful years during which he wasn’t coerced into using his designation to aid students through their heats so they could safely finish their education. Then she happened and the autonomy he so craved was taken from him once more in the name of, “The Greater Good.” Only this time he was being forced to bed and wed the omega in question, Hermione Granger.
Never mind the fact that no omega had ever stirred and tempted him the way she does.
Things like this were not supposed to happen to her. No, unexpected developments that imploded the plans of others and created insurmountable obstacles was Harry’s speciality. Yet here she was, a slave to her designation. A liability to the Order. Something that needed to be managed. Her choice, be bedded by and wedded to an Alpha, particularly Severus Snape, or leave Hogwarts behind. Well wasn’t that just lovely?

His face softened as he slowly reached out and cupped her cheek. "It's too hard, Hermione."
Though taken aback by his gentleness and his touch, she managed to ask, "What's too hard?"
He studied her for several moments, softly stroking her face the whole time. Finally, he removed his hand and said, "Having you... yet never really... having you."
His enigmatic answer told her almost nothing. However, his eyes… Oh, gods, why is he looking at me like that? "You have me, Severus. I'm your wife," she said, hoping to get some clarification.
