Elphaba was walking back to her dorm
"Hey." Elphaba heard a voice behind her, tapping on her shoulder.
She turned around, looking confused at Fiyero, the person who tapped on her shoulder.
To Fiyero, Elphaba looked like a magical, alluring, fae.
Elphaba rolled her eyes at Fiyero, though even that was precious to him.
“You're adorable, what's your name?” Fiyero asked, wanting to hang out soon.
She straightened a little. “Elphaba Thropp,” She responded, not anticipating for him to care.
“That's a nice name.” He said frankly.
“And the defensiveness is that a recent development, Miss Elphaba?” Fiyero asked, noticing her strong walls.
She made distance from others and was always very skeptical of people, isolating herself to avoid the pain and betrayal of discovering they didn't really care about her at all. It was lonely and exhausting, but betrayal after betrayal would be worse pain, and she had thought she had gotten used to it.

In the end it had amounted to nothing but hazy flashes of what they were doing to him dancing across her eyes, and an angry vow to never do anything good again. Collapsing to the cold stone floor of Kiamo Ko, she’d barely registered Chistery and the other monkeys wrapping a cloak around her before her eyes slid shut."
A time-travel fix it fic, where Elphaba collapses after No Good Deed, but doesn't wake up exactly where she expects she would have....

PROLOGUE
Elphaba felt the wind rush against her face and scalp. The wind whipped her cloak around. She might be going faster if it weren’t for the cloak, but it was too precious to her. Maybe it was her imagination, but she somehow felt that she could still feel the warmth of Galinda- sorry, Glinda’s hands tying it around her. She felt the broom darting out towards the horizon as she grabbed on for dear life. And yet, her broom seemed to understand her. It seemed to understand what she wanted. Like it was a part of her. She felt sadness at having left Glinda and Fiyero. She felt fear at what the future might hold for her. But more than anything else she felt anger like nothing she’d ever felt before. She had spent her whole life dreaming of meeting the Wizard, dreaming of a world that she would not be at the mercy of. All her life she dreamed, all for it to turn out to be smoke and mirrors.
She refused to be used. She refused to be a pawn. As she rocketed towards the setting sun, all feelings melted away, as if blown off by the headwinds. The only thing left was determination. If the Wizard wasn’t going to help the Animals, she sure as hell would.

OR... what if Fiyero Tigelaar never went to Shiz, what if the death of his father, making him the heir to the throne prevented him from attending? What if he was prevented from meeting Elphaba in a more stable scenario?
