Summary
Obi-Wan is 34 years old when he meets Anakin, an attractive man 16 years his junior with dreams of being an architect. They keep seeing each other: dinner, then movie, then sex. Obi-Wan falls in love but can't bring himself to admit it. Wants to be with Anakin, but can't square that with his public image as a respectable English professor. For a year, he keeps Anakin in the middle-distance.
Then Anakin disappears. A letter arrives telling him goodbye.
Or, a strangers-to-lovers-to-strangers-to-lovers story about falling apart, healing, and coming back together again.

Summary
Buck gets shitfaced after a bad call. He tries to kiss Eddie, who turns him down, worried that Buck will regret it, but discovers that his feelings for Eddie are reciprocated. He only remembers getting turned down.
When the boys finally get their shit sorted, Eddie refuses to be normal about it. He made a promise to himself that he'd never let Buck, or anyone else, have a scintilla of doubt about his love for his partner.
On the phone with the insurance company, he doesn’t say he's calling on behalf of his “boyfriend”—he says, “my beloved.” At a store, he tells the clerk he’s looking for something for “the man who hung the sun and the moon”. When a repairman comes by, asking for Buck, he says, “no, the light of my life is at a PTA meeting right now, but come right in.”
Buck finds this all deeply embarrassing, but he lets Eddie do it, because he could never deny him anything. And because of the delighted giggle it draws from Chris, to whom he could also deny nothing.

Summary
Eddie has spent years carefully tucking away his love for Buck. If it were just him, maybe he would have found the courage to say something about it. But nothing worth doing is without risk, and he can't take that risk for Chris.
But there are moments that cry out to be fulfilled; they can only be postponed for so long.
