“Fuck you Zoro!” Sanji yells, then makes a dramatic gurgling sound like he’s drowning.
“Don’t worry Sanji, I’ll stretch real long and grab you!” Luffy calls, jumping down as well and dragging Sanji by the arm up to the ladder. He climbs up first then looks down at Sanji, who grips the metal ladder hard, trying his best to seem half drowned, “You’re safe now,” Luffy whispers, the quietest he’s been all day. “Cause you’re mine and I always make sure my people are safe.”
He holds out his hand.
Sanji takes it.

Number one rule for working the night shifts at the sketchy gas station in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere was to not look at them, and they would leave you alone. They weren’t even supposed to see you if you didn’t look at them - just flicker the lights, rattle some shelves, and inflict the fear of death into your bone marrow.
Then, one night, one of them with stupid eyebrows and a serious attitude problem chose to come in only to start yelling at Zoro, who had done literally nothing to deserve it.

Ace took his brother's wrist and turned his arm, counting the different sets of handwriting. “Three.”

Steal the treaty and burn it. Easy. Usopp has stolen thousands of important documents in his life.
These people mean business, and they’ve revealed their hand: they have Kaya, Ninjin, Piiman, and Tamanegi as hostages back in Syrup Village.

“I…” came from the doorway. “Am. Left. Handed.” Law and the others turned, and those unprepared for it balked at the sight of the female veterinarian standing there, holding her head at about chest level, looking furious and surprisingly calm for someone who’d been decapitated.
Law had been right. It was going to be a very long day.

Summary
Sanji has been on the run for the past few months; fearing the shadows of his past, as well as the Marines, who will hunt him for simply being non-human. By chance, he lands at Punk Hazard for supplies, when an explosion and a chance encounter throw him into a plot to turn the world upside down. Luffy is adamant to make him part of his pack, in thanks for saving his packmate's life, but Sanji can't stay.
He's being hunted. Not just by the Marines, but by those who won't let him rest in peace. He's wasting time. If only Luffy would give up on him already. And if only that damn wolf swordsman would just let him leave.

Luffy wasn't expecting to land on Punk Hazard so soon after recovering his pack. Finding a snappy, rogue vampire is also a surprise. However, Luffy sees right through him at the fearful, dejected soul with a desire to find a home. Sanji's not that bright if he thinks Luffy will let him leave now.
In the midst of this, an alliance with a despondent, vampire doctor, whom he's met in the past, is proposed. Luffy is all in. However, the man has a critical eye, and Luffy is hiding a longstanding injury from Marineford. One that's slowly killing him; one that no one else can know about.

A pause. A shift in the wind. The warmth of his attention buzzed against her skin, calling to attention their sudden proximity.
He smirked, stepping a little closer, voice lower. “You could make it come out right, if you wanted to.”
A shiver ran through her back. Her eyes narrowed, amused. Dangerous. “Captain, are you flirting?”
“Captain?” he echoed, a little too pleased. “Now you’re just trying to get me worked up.”
He leaned in, bracing a hand casually on the barrel next to her, close enough that she could smell the faint tang of citrus and sea-salt on him.
“I should warn you,” he said, tone dipping, “I’m very responsive to authority play.”

In freedom lies choices and every choice has its consequences.
Falling off a slaver's ship in the middle of the New World was a miscalculation. Walking up to the Red-Hair Pirates' ship to chase it was a bad decision.
Ending under his protection after very clearly refusing to ever ally herself with pirates? Well, that was bad for her ego.
