When she realizes that Dorothy also wants to visit the city, she proposes that they pretend they’re newlyweds.

Dorothy and Stanley have to pretend that they're married, since Uncle Angelo doesn't know that they broke up. However, Rose's caring behavior towards Dorothy is threatening to expose the truth.

Dorothy is about to tell the truth during the Wake Up Miami Show, after she hears Blanche say that she's the homemaker, but anything she's about to say disappears when she turns to look at Rose's puppy eyes.
For a reason she's not sure she understands, Dorothy can't find it in her to hurt those pleading eyes.
Despite that, Dorothy is mad at Rose afterwards, even after Blanche decides to forgive her. Rose is unhappy with Dorothy's anger lasting longer than she anticipated, so she does something unexpected to earn her forgiveness.
