“I meant…” Kaoru takes a deep breath. “I meant that you stayed. You were there when Ainosuke wasn’t. And I know how that sounds, but Kojiro,” he reaches up to wipe the tear away. “Kojiro, you were exactly what I needed. As a friend at the time, because I didn’t need or even think about wanting anything more. But it’s different, now.”
Kojiro leans towards Kaoru’s palm, chasing that warmth. Chasing, like he’s been doing what feels like all his life.
“I wouldn’t say this now if I really still felt that way for him, I swear to you. It wasn’t always you, but I think I want it to be, now, if you’ll allow it.”

“Adam.” Kaoru returned in greeting, doing his best to pretend he knew nought. “Evening.”

Summary
Kojiro, a minotaur who lives in the forest, pursues a peaceful life devoid of violence or strife. His personal rule to not get involved in matters of the forest is challenged when he stumbles upon a small pink fox crying out for help. Of course, when it comes to creatures of the forest, there is often more than meets the eye, and Kojiro soon finds himself in unfamiliar company.
