Summary
It's autumn, Year '32. "The Thirties." "The New." "The Disco Years." Whatever you want to call it, Revachol is in the midst of its post-Revolutionary boom--a deceptive era of comparative plenty that will, unbeknownst to its citizens, eventually fizzle and die. The Revachol Citizens Militia is rebranding, restructuring, and recruiting. As part of these efforts, Junior Officer Kim Kitsuragi embarks on a new juvenile delinquent mentor program that takes him beyond the Greater Revachol Industrial Harbor. He meets a young gym teacher named Harry Du Bois while on assignment in Couron. Against the fraught, shifting backdrop of Revachol West, their relationship develops into something neither of them expected.

Summary
Written for Sledgefu Week 2020 Day 2: Southern Gothic AU
The bayou feels ancient. Eugene’s breath is stolen by the absolute stillness of it all. The cypress and tupelo trees grow so thick that there’s not a ripple of a breeze in the air. The longer they move across the water, the more exhausted Eugene begins to feel. His head becomes cotton, all thick and light, in the heat of the bayou. He turns his head to the shore again, and he sucks in a short breath when he sees a man lurking in the trees. At first he wonders if it’s Merriell, and then he wonders if he’s going mad.

"How much?" Mike asks. I think maybe I love you.
Scott presses something that feels like folded bills into his hand. He doesn't count it.

Summary
That night, with Merriell one bed over, Eugene has a dream about running around in the thickets and trees that hug the camp, dragging his feet when they refuse to cooperate, blades of crabgrass biting at his soles. One of the sporadic bedroom checks wakes him up, the flashlight's beam stretching from the door to his face and pressing at his eyelids. It lingers on Merriell far longer. Something makes Eugene not want to look at him: his slight figure under the covers, lamplit eyes peering out and seeking out even the slightest flicker of light to reflect.
1996. Eugene and Merriell share a bedroom at God's Hope, a conversion camp. Written for Sledgefu Week 2019, for the movie and TV AU, loosely based on The Miseducation of Cameron Post.
