Summary
He’d been naive.
Stupid, foolish, and naive.
Too kind, too nice, too forgiving, too trusting— Too loving. And all he has to show for on this bridge, a divide between two kingdoms, is lily petals.
Pure white, as innocent as snow, yet stained with dried blood, a side-effect of his own magic growing too potent inside of his body. They show his heart’s desire in the shaky palm of his hand, and with it, proof that he’ll never get what he wants. That he isn’t loved back, that it’s unrequited, that instead he’d die a lonely, excruciating death soon. That all he’s worth is his temporary crown, the lies he’s been told, the distrust he’s been given, and the flowers that once blossomed underneath his feet, and now bloom inside his lungs.

Summary
Ugh. Humans are so rude.
Scott already despises most of the people in Oakhurst and he’s only been here for two days. Two! It wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t accused of being a vampire and murdering Shelby in the woods. The townsfolk had been quite nice up until that point, but noooo, even if he successfully managed to convince everyone he didn’t kill Shelby—seeing as she showed up alive and well!—doubt had been cast on him.
And now no one trusts him. Great.
It’s not like Scott truly cares, Shelby’s nice enough, but does he really worry for any of these people? Absolutely not. He’s here to follow strangers into the woods and hope they bite him, not the other way around!

It’s the unfortunate, irrevocable truth: Scott Goldsmith is human.
He doesn’t want to be.

Summary
“Tell me something, Abolish, do you want to die?” Scott questions lazily, his cape fluttering around him as he spins around to face Abolish, his arm outstretched as he uses two fingers to beckon his servant. There’s something fluid and majestic about Scott’s movements, a dance practiced until perfected, switching smoothly from near stillness to extravagant motion within the blink of an eye.
The question though, that’s a relatively easy one. “No,” Abolish says simply.
“No?” Scott repeats, raising an elegant eyebrow.
“No, my Lord, I don’t want to die,” he amends.

Summary
Abolish slips into the seat right across from him, and as Scott’s red eyes flick up to meet his brown ones, his expression brightens. “Scott,” he greets quietly.
“Oh hello, Abolish,” Scott replies without even a hint of surprise, slipping a marker between the pages of his book before he puts it to the side. “Got a day off?”
He holds back a snort. Funny. “Yeah,” Abolish answers. “How have you been?”
“Recently, or since we last spoke?” Scott questions with a chuckle, tilting his head to the side slightly. “After all, it’s been a century, give or take.”
