Summary
Fresh from his latest layoff, Dean finds himself working part-time as housekeeper for a standoffish coworker of Sam’s. And honestly? He kind of loves it. There’s satisfaction in finally being recognized for all the hard work he puts into everything he does. But when Sam decides to uproot their lives without warning, Dean has to choose between scrabbling to find somewhere he can afford to live on his own or moving halfway across the country to live as the third wheel at Sam’s new home on the coast. Either way he’ll have to give up the one job he’s ever felt appreciated at, because it’s not like he could afford rent and groceries just cleaning house for Mr. Novak.

Summary
Set in The French Mistake universe. To safeguard the angelic weapons he stole from Heaven, Balthazar has entrusted the keys to their hiding place to Sam and Dean and sent them into an alternative dimension. Unfortunately, Heavenly hitman Virgil followed them through and managed to swipe the keys during the ensuing confrontation. Now, the brothers need to find Virgil stat or their world is headed for a meltdown when he hands the keys over to Raphael who plans to use the weapons to re-start Armageddon. The problem is - how? Because if tracking down Virgil isn't hard enough they also have to keep up the pretence of being a couple of crappy TV stars, investigate the mysterious arrival of one Richard Speight Jr. and deal with a clingy Castiel-lookalike who can't seem to stop fawning over Dean.

Dean to Sam in s15e20, about missing Jack and Cas:
“You know what? That pain's not gonna go away. Right? But if we don't keep living, then all that sacrifice is gonna be for nothing.”
Not much later, Dean honors the sacrifice by getting himself killed on a regular hunt.
A Destiel fix-it fic featuring Castiel’s mixtape, praying Sam, Heaven-rebuilding Jack, three new (or old) archangels, the fabulous Queen of Hell and just for the fun of it, Crowley too. Canon compliant until that damned REBAR.
Or; the story in which it takes a village to raise Dean above his issues and push into the arms of Cas.
