Zhuo Yichen's eyes immediately spotted a lot more naked skin than he was used to - the yao leaning back against a rock slab at the edge of the pool, his lower half thankfully covered by water and steam. Zhuo Yichen had seen Zhao Yuanzhou topless before, but not like this - and certainly not bathing. The yao had his head tossed back, his hair damp and cascading down his back, his normally pale skin was flushed, eyes closed, eyebrows furrowed, and lips open in a gasp of pain and perhaps….

Swallowing thickly, Zhuo Yichen suddenly got a huge whiff of Zhao Yuanzhou’s scent - which was headier than normal, thickly layered and spicy, and it made his mouth water. Despite being a Beta who couldn’t be affected by pheromones, Zhuo Yichen WAS however affected by Zhao Yuanzhou’s delicious scent. No mortal would be able to resist it, regardless of how powerful they were or not - and he was certain that hardly any other yao would be able to either.
Zhao Yuanzhou was in heat.
Or the one where Zhuo Yichen stumbles on one very, very horny yao in the midst of his heat - his first in a hundred years, and decides to help him out... and in so doing confronts his "feelings".

“You guys ok?” Wei Wuxian asked, and then scratched his head a bit awkwardly. He had no idea what to do with kids. Or how to talk to them, to be honest. Then he scoffed, “Of course that was a dumbass question - shit - ah well, it’s not like you haven’t heard someone cuss before.”
He visibly slapped a hand over his mouth to keep from putting a boot in it and took a few minutes to calm the fuck down. Then he tried again, “I’m Wei Ying, courtesy name Wuxian. You can call me whatever, it doesn’t matter. Are you guys unharmed?”
The oldest boy - Lan Xichen nodded and then spoke shyly, “We’re not hurt.”
The younger boy - Lan Wangji stayed silent as the grave and looked like he was totally judging Wei Wuxian for all of his life choices, past, present, and future. Jesus, the kid had one hell of a murder scowl that could rival that pissed off demon donkey of his sister’s.
Or the one where crusnik Wei Wuxian ends up finding and rescuing two adorable moon elf children after the Apocalypse, and one just so happens to hate his guts... at first.

At sixteen Wei Wuxian is—through some strange twist of fate, or a nick in the layer between parallel universes, who knows—out of the blue confronted with that one incense burner dream one night.
While his curious mind is left unable to stop poking at this new perspective on Lan Wangji, circumstances in the Cloud Recesses begin to change and Wei Wuxian is suddenly presented with life-altering opportunities.
Maybe Gusu isn’t so bad after all?
(Or alternatively: The fic where I get to give Wei Wuxian the academic scholarship he deserves while simultaneously getting him hitched early on.)
