Wei Wuxian being back from the dead added yet another problem to Jiang Cheng’s endless list of things he needs to take care of. As if being sect leader, dealing with constant night terrors, and raising his nephew wasn’t enough.
Someone who could relate to the struggles of raising a kid alone was sect leader Lan, who had unofficially adopted a young orphan off of the streets of Gusu. A boy with the happiest of smiles but similarly to Jin Ling required a lot of work.
Neither Lan Xichen nor Lan Jingyi was interested in finding out about his past, or who his parents might have been, they were happy as a family and that’s all that matters. But due to tragic circumstances they might not be able to turn a blind eye to the past anymore.
All the while the two cultivators have to deal with the outcome of their failed attempt at a relationship and the miscommunication that occurred. Because what they both truly want is to be together as a couple and a family, to raise the two boys together and be happy, and yet neither manages to get this information across.

Summary
A ridiculous string of misunderstandings lands Jiang Cheng in a courtship with Lan Xichen. Jiang Cheng is far from thrilled, but if it gets the downtrodden Zewu-Jun out of seclusion, then he will do what he must. He can always find a way to escape it later. Lan Xichen just hopes Jiang Cheng will give up on him so he can go back to wasting away in peace. Of course, it gets a bit out of hand and the lies slowly become truth. Little by little, they both find healing in the love that grows between them. Along the way they stumble upon an ancient, forgotten mystery that turns their world upside down. In the end, attempting the impossible will not be enough. They must achieve it, or lose everything.
