if i had to recommend one of my fics, it would be this one.
i love extended metaphors (especially if they pertain to religion or greek mythology) and character studies, and this is a character study composed entirely of metaphors. it's quite flowery and a bit removed from my usual writing style, but i'm incredibly proud of this piece.
(would it be a bit vain to call my own writing beautiful? x)

Ada had always been a mess of sharp edges and barbed wire, the inner workings of her heart both elusive and impenetrable.
But the Ada lying with her limbs tangled with his is soft and warm and solid under his touch, and not for the first time, Leon wonders how many have had the privilege to bear witness to this side of her, buried underneath the façade of a pragmatic, efficient spy, a ruthless killer.
He wonders if he might be the first, and perhaps, only one.
(Or: In the hours before dawn, Leon and Ada contemplate the past, present and future, and along the way, carve out their own safe haven.)

i am a massive, massive sucker for pillow talk in the wee hours before dawn breaks. it's such a slow, quiet stretch of time and it's the perfect backdrop for two characters to break down and be vulnerable with each other, and this piece is a gorgeous example of such a case. ada and leon in the shadows of their bedroom, their emotions drawn out from these dark recesses and gently laid out before each other. tender, raw communication. a marvel. x
