A whistling wind raked through the trees, and Arthur ducked, hiding his face within his deep, crimson hood. He could only hope the physician might greet him with something hot to drink, for surely he must be there soon; it was hard to track the passing of the sun through such dense foliage, and the days were short this time of year, but Arthur had left Camelot in mid-morning, just late enough for the sun’s rays to crack the seal of frost upon the world.
Somewhere in the distance, a wolf howled. Or was it so far? Sound traveled as strangely as light in these woods.
The next step Arthur took, the next crunch of boot on snow, echoed strangely, doubled up.
“You know you’re going the wrong way, don’t you, friend?”
Prince Arthur walks into the woods on a snowy morning with a basket of herbs for Gaius, the physician who lives deep within and is said to create remedies for any illness. On the path, he meets a strange young man who claims to be Gaius's nephew and offers to show Arthur the way.
