on a dark, rainy night, dean is called to both a manor and a murder. the victim, he finds, is regarded fondly by everyone inside -- but what motives lie beneath?
his case is only made more difficult by a sudden, mutual interest in one of his main suspects. but castiel refuses to answer certain questions, and many others in the manor are just as cagey. dean finds himself at the manor again and again, both to pursue his leads and also allow himself a distraction he may not be able to afford. he can't let his guard down.

Inspired by Jennilah's adorable artwork of a tiny!cas-filled gumball machine.
Dean walks into his local bank one day and notices that someone has filled the old gumball machine with these tiny, wiggling, sentient angels in individual plastic packaging. Deeply concerned about their air supply and the fact that they're trapped there in the sun, he starts pumping in quarters to rescue them. This is worse than leaving a dog in an overheating car.
Now he's got forty of the little guys running all over his house, and god knows how many others might be trapped and dying all over the city.
