Summary
“Fishing takes patience and skill,” Gale went on as they forged through fields, brushing stray stalks of wildflowers out of his path. “It isn’t just brute force. There’s a delicate balance in luring a fish in, finding the right touch to reel it in without losing it.”
The two walked further in a blanket of comfortable silence. Bucky’s heavy footsteps echoing in the prints of Gale’s quiet steps. John wasn’t sure where they were headed; he only knew that Gale had found this place the week prior. He had come back one afternoon with shining eyes, and asked shyly if Bucky would want to go fishing with him sometime.
As if Bucky would ever say no to Gale, but when he asked in that sweet, bashful tone, Bucky would have followed him headfirst into anything. So he’d agreed to wake before dawn, and come traipsing out here with Gale to stand in a freezing river.
