He woke up with this massive headache. He didn’t even drink that much last night. Not more than usual anyway. He blinked against the sunlight seeping through the curtains, as the vivid pictures from his dream slowly faded. There was the face of this blonde man burnt now into his memory. A man he didn’t even recognize. He was wearing a red jumper and some dark blue vest like a prison inmate. The dream was more like a stop motion movie with most of the frames missing. They were sat opposite each other at a table when a buzzing sound announced the end of visiting hours.
“Promise me you’ll never forget.”, the man said.
He sat up in his bed and rolled his feet over the edge. The rough carpet tickled his feet and he stretched his arms while letting out a huge yawn. The headache didn’t fade like he hoped it would and for a second he lost his balance trying to stand up from the mattress. He picked up his phone from the bedside table and flipped it open.

“It is to me!”
“I don’t really know.” It is the truth but he can see that Callum couldn’t accept it as a final answer.
“Right. So, we talking double figures, or...?” Callum wants to know.
Ben remains silent while contemplating his answer. Why can’t Callum just leave it? Why can’t he drop the matter for his own good. Knowing fully well that his answer will be just fuel to Callums own clearly visible insecurity, he brings himself to speak.

Aaron’s has never meant that to him. He hides his bondmark, ashamed of how it looks and what it means for his future. He keeps himself to himself, careful not to let anyone too close.
Then a stranger arrives in the village. He remembers Aaron from long ago, and won’t let him shy away from the threads that pull them together. When they realise what they are to each other, it makes Aaron question everything he thinks he knows.
