Summary
It gets harder after Neibolt and Pennywise. Everything does: talking and joking take a lot more effort than it did before. Getting out of the bed takes longer because now he needs to spend a great deal of time psyching himself up to do it. Caring is hard too, it's like all of his emotions were sucked out of him and all that's left is that horrible sense of nothing. Stan doesn't care about school anymore, or doing his homework, he doesn't care about making his father proud, but at the same time, he avoids making him mad because he doesn't care enough to argue with him. Even now, he's hanging out with his friends at the quarry, he looks at his bird book, reading all the description and inspecting the drawings, and all he can think of is: "remember when i used to enjoy things?" He laughs at that. It's not funny, not really, but he can't help it.

Summary
Keith had tried not to care about Lance at all, to ignore him, but Lance was just. So much. Everything about the way Lance acted seemed to scream notice me at Keith and, now that he started, he just couldn't stop. Lance was so colourful and loud, full of challenges. Lance's challenges were often very stupid, sure, but they were always fun. And what made it more fun was knowing that he somehow could get under Lance's skin just as much as Lance got under his. It gets less fun when Lance starts singing cheesy Disney songs at the top of his lungs because the asshole knows the walls between their apartments are thin and he does it on purpose so Keith will get the goddamn song stuck on his head for the rest of the week, and god, Keith hates him so much. He can't stop complaining about Lance's face, his voice, his hands, his hair, and his voice again because Lance chooses that exact moment to blast the soundtrack from Moana from his room, half singing, half shouting the lyrics.

In any other universe, Will would probably have sputtered and started panicking like a child that’s lost their parents in a grocery store. "Can I ask you something kind of personal" is the question every queer kid dreads hearing from others, even people that they know and trust with their whole heart. Truth be told, Will didn’t feel completely at ease with the question, but considering today’s events, he tried to push his fear down. He felt like he’s been almost stripped bare of all his secrets after his confession. Almost.
“Yeah, of…of course, what’s up?”
Mike hesitated a moment, looking down at the carpet. He tapped his toes inside of his shoes. “Who the hell is Tammy?”

Will moves back to an upright position, wiping his hair out of his eyes, head and shoulders peeking above the water. “Mike,” he says, pulling Mike up with him, their fingers still intertwined.
“Yeah?” Mike says, tilting his head so the water trickles out of his ears, wincing slightly. “What is it?”
Will’s eyes dart back and forth between his, and then Mike feels his hand squeeze his own. “I don’t want you to, like, think I moved back for you,” he starts, which in and of itself would be enough to get Mike’s soul soaring straight out of his own body, if it weren’t for Will’s thumb pressed against his pulse point like some kind of mortal tether. “Because it’s not like that, I promise. But I think– I think I realized there’s a difference between things you want and things you need, you know?”
