Adam knows that Ronan knows that Adam knows that Ronan likes him. But the phrase itself is so childish, so immature in comparison to the world around them. They’re not in love, maybe not yet, and if they kiss they won’t perish. But maybe they’re soulmates, Adam thinks offhandedly. And then he thinks about it more, about the ravens that stopped appearing on the base of his palm and the trees that he would find snaked up his elbow.
He thinks, maybe.

“Really?” he asks. “I can’t imagine anyone would find these even remotely sexy.” Neil holds an edge of the boxers with the tip of his index finger and shakes them around.
The man, Andrew, snatches the pair away from him, neatly folding them and setting them back on the shelf. “Well, there are other options,” he says. He points to the pair at the end, where a picture of nude, probably Greek men are pictured on the cloth. The placement of their anatomy is unfortunate, honestly, and Neil lets out an unwilling laugh.
“Oh, those are just so much worse.”
