Omgggg okay this is fun. And by fun I mean a heart wrenching in the best way 🤪🤪 nothing like an abandonment insecurity to get me shedding tears!! What’s lacking in prose is made up in pain, and it’s fun to get the outside looking in pov.
Also when an author just has bad taste HAHAHAH. I’m so sorry, the veil, the oil wedding painting, I’d be like where the fuck am I LOL
But I enjoyed this!

Summary
Simon Riley, captain of the Manchester Soldiers, is one of the best goal scorers in the entire premier league. For some reason, however, he cannot score a goal against John MacTavish to save his life. It's driving him a little mad at this point.
When John gets booted from his team for a "breach of contract" Simon does his best to be professional, to welcome his new goalie. That's what good captains do. It's just a shame MacTavish is such an arrogant prick.

Bookmarking to save myself the trouble down the line: do NOT read this!! It is NOT worth it!! And if you do, plz start at chapter 16, hehe. This is now the second time I’ve dropped this fic and I cannot for the life of me figure out how it seems to have such a good reputation. I hang on because I like the concept, but I really need to let go and stop wasting my time
The amount of grammatical punctuation and capitalization issues alone is ATROCIOUS!! Let alone some of the silly writing choices. It’s one thing to not know the inner workings of an industry and the reader suspend their disbelief. That I can do. (What do I know about the premier league? What do I know about the military?!) But Johnny, a professional athlete, saying “give me your average team salary” when negotiating a contract is LUDICROUS!! I don’t care if he’s “down on his luck” or feeling vulnerable or whatever. That’s INSANE when he has teams lining up around the block to sign him. Where is his lawyer?! And sure, it was “written in” as an issue that Johnny and Simon had to share a room, but treated as not out of the ordinary for Johnny on his old team. You’re telling me someone paid MILLIONS of dollars a year is sharing a hotel room with TWIN beds on the regular?? Get outta my face. If this is a ploy to make the narrative more down to earth and not a class fantasy—cause I don’t want that either—I appreciate it, but there are better ways
And don’t even get me started on Simon prematurely sourcing his own blackmail “just incase.” Because yes, that’s a very normal and expected thing to do? Huh?? And the way they released the ENTIRE hour long video?? I’m sorry, was it everyone’s first day on the planet? That’s your hail mary?! They couldn’t have found a way to cut it down?? You’re trying to create a distraction, not end his career! Goddamn, even Colin Farrell’s sex tape is only like 15 minutes
And then to have the audacity to retwt about the fanfic discourse on having higher standards of writing in fanfiction… Diva, look in the mirror. They’re talking about YOU!! Lord, I could go on forever
You notice how I left punctuation off at the end of every paragraph? That’s kind of what reading this fic was like. I bitch and moan but sometimes it’s fun to have these sort of complaints. Feeling nostalgic for sugaofdagu and you tried-fanfiction tumblr era 😭

Summary
"Tomorrow we're allies," Ghost said. "But I make no promises for the future. If I see you again on the wrong side of the fight after this mess is over, I won't hesitate to pull the trigger."
"Neither will I," Konig agreed. "Let's hope it never comes to that. Something tells me Johnny would be displeased if I killed his new pet."
The colonel was pushing his fucking luck, putting Johnny's name in his fucking mouth as if he had any right to it. Ghost dug his fingers into the stitches Johnny had so carefully sewn into his palm last week to keep himself in line.
"Your first mistake is assuming he wouldn't pull the trigger with me," Ghost said, hoping to wound Konig at least a little. Was it true? He had no idea.
"Maybe," Konig shrugged. "It's been a while since I've known him. You, on the other hand...that mask hides less than you think."
