When you are held hostage by a version of yourself from a dark timeline, there are only a certain amount of ways you can pass the time. There are ways that even a sub-standard psych major can use this to her advantage, and Britta Perry is nothing if not a sub-standard psych major...

    Bookmarker's Notes

This was one of the first stories I read after finishing due South for the first time and OH MY GOD I just love it, and could reread it pretty much endlessly. There's a reason it's a classic in the fandom.

It's a particular challenge, I think, to really nail the tone of the show once you get the characters out of Chicago, so I'm just so impressed by the worldbuilding here; this tiny town and its inhabitants are wonderfully vivid and specific. And ouch, what a painfully effective evocation of intense loneliness- it would be hard to read if not for the hard-earned happy ending...
