"Done with your princeling so soon?" Teft asks gruffly, and Adolin shrugs.
"Not my princeling," he says.
Gaz snorts, jerking his head at something over Adolin's shoulder. "Sure he's not." Adolin twists, still squatting, and looks behind him to see the Kholin princes exiting the Bridge Four barracks and walking toward them.
He sighs, re-wrapping Teft's arm before standing and turning around.
"I thought I made myself clear," he says to them, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I'm not leaving you here," Kaladin says, quiet and determined.

His mouth finds my collarbone, lingering there, reverent and cruel all at once.
“…and I will make it so.”
I hate him.
But I need him.
I need him not to send Cassius to Julia au Bellona, where the enemy would bide the right moment to torture and kill him for helping me. I need him not to go after Sevro.
Apollonius is a paradox. A delirium. And I am a muse to entertain his desire. And that makes him dangerous in a way no blade ever could.

Too much physical contact between unmated alphas and omegas can be dangerous. That's why mixed-orientation squads aren't allowed in the Kholin military. The thing is, everyone on the training grounds assumed Kaladin was an alpha... Until it was too late. Now he's in the throes of an unexpected heat, it's technically Adolin's fault, and they definitely don't like each other enough for this to be easy.
Is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship, a deadly rivalry, or… something else??
