The thing is, everyone on the training grounds assumed Kaladin was an alpha... Until it was too late. Now he's in the throes of an unexpected heat, it's technically Adolin's fault, and they definitely don't like each other enough for this to be easy.
What can I say? There isn't nearly enough Omegaverse in the Stormlight fandom.

There he meets Kaladin, his squadleader and new roommate. Adolin’s flirty, sunshine charm slowly breaks through Kaladin’s walls, and they eventually fall for each other.
Then, Amaram betrays them. He tries to kill Adolin and sells Kaladin into sexual slavery.
When Adolin finally finds Kaladin again, he’s broken. He doesn’t believe the man he once loved could be a prince.
But Adolin refuses to give up.

“You can lie. Say whatever you want—”
“I’m sorry,” Amaram said, “But this is what happens when darkeyes forget their place.”
“NO!” Kaladin shouted.
Amaram raised a hand.
Two knives plunged into Adolin’s body.

And, in the process, ensure Kaladin’s status as untouchable?”
Dalinar’s stomach twisted. He had a bad feeling about this.
“I don’t have time for this, Wit,” he said, “Speak plainly.”
Wit leaned back in his chair. Without breaking eye contact, he said, “We betroth Kaladin to Adolin.”
Dalinar stared at him.
“You’re joking,” Dalinar said once his mouth regained its ability to form words.
Silence stretched between them.
Wit was not joking.
Dalinar missed the person he was before this conversation.

He begins to believe the world would be better without him. That maybe, finally, it’s time to let go.
But just as he’s about to let go, he realizes something. Something that changes everything.

Shallan grins at herself, satisfied with her petty little insult, and Kaladin finds at least one knot in his chest unwind at the familiar treatment, making breathing feel just a little bit easier. She’s not yelling at him and throwing him out of the room—the room that, now that he looks around, belongs to neither Shallan or Kaladin.
The realization hits at the same moment that the sheets rustle, and Adolin’s head pops up over Shallan’s shoulder, grimacing at the headache he undoubtedly has.
