Then Will spoke, voice small but steady.
“Can I ask you something?”Richie nodded immediately. “Yeah. Always.”
Will stared at the floor. His fingers twisted together. “How did you… know?”
A pause.
“Like—when you knew you liked boys.”The air shifted.
Richie didn’t joke right away.
“That obvious, huh?” he said softly.
Will shook his head quickly. “No— I just— I think I might and I don’t know what that means and—” He swallowed. “I just wanted to know how you figured it out.”
Richie leaned back against the wall, staring at the ceiling. “Honestly? I didn’t figure it out so much as it… happened.”
Will glanced at him.
“I fell in love with my best friend,” Richie said, voice light but eyes serious. “Classic. Embarrassing. Zero out of ten would not recommend.”
Will smiled at first—then it faded, something thoughtful settling in. Richie noticed immediately.

Wills in love with Mike but Mike doesn’t seem to notice or care, Mike’s cousin comes to visit and he gets close with Will and Mike suddenly can’t stand it, jealousy reeks from him and everyone seems to know what’s going on except them.

Summary
Will Byers had been in love with his best friend for as long as he could even say the word 'love'. Of course, his best friend was dating his "stepsister". Yet despite that and the fact that they lived in Hawkins, Indiana, in the mid-80s, he allowed himself to fall further into this love that he always felt. After all, the world was ending.
But what he didn't expect was to see his best friend acting differently with both him and his girlfriend. he watched them grow distant while his best friend grew closer to Will.
