Summary
Once upon a time there was a boy with high ambitions and the noble dream to change his sport. But the legacy he created demanded a terrible price:

Twenty years of being Russia’s poster athlete have drained Viktor Nikiforov off his passion for the ice. Caught up in duty and habit he cannot escape the icon he has become. Deep inside him, Viktor knows that he can mask his lack of inspiration with technical prowess and experience only for so long. Eventually, his body will fail him and the darkness he has been warding off with routine will close in on him.
Viktor is contemplating giving in to the false promise of retirement when a drunken Japanese Cinderella dances into his life, inspiring a dream of life and love beyond scores and medals. And for the first time in years, Viktor can finally believe that he found the one who finishes his duet. But that which sets his heart on fire also holds the power to throw him into an even darker state of mind, for the image Katsuki Yuuri of Japan etches in Viktor’s heart and soul is that of a male femme fatale rather than a prince.
This is my take on the four months between the Sochi GPF and Viktor becoming Yuuri’s coach.
