Summary
To Eddie, it’s weird, almost wrong, that he can do all this now—can run and jump into the water, cannonballing right in the middle of everyone to cause maximum water damage, can dive deep until he pops up in front of Steve to spray water in his face—when just last summer, he couldn’t even get up to the bathroom without help. Months on months of bed rest, nearly a year of physical therapy, what felt like endless nights of sobbing into his pillow from the pain. It doesn’t feel real. It doesn’t feel like he earned it.
—
It’s the summer of 1987 and Eddie’s still healing, still falling in love.

Summary
“I’m coming, man. Jeez. This isn’t life or death.”
Steve opens the driver’s side door roughly. “Alcohol thins your blood. Lose too much and it will be life or death.”
“It’s just a flesh wound,” Eddie insists in a bad British accent as he plops down in the passenger seat. When Steve only gives him a blank look, his grin falls. “Monty Python and the Holy Grail? No? Come on, dude, how do you work at a video store?”

Summary
Eddie Munson was prepared to spend the last stretch of summer alone—playing records in his room, biking through heat-hazed backroads, letting the long days pass untouched. Until Steve Harrington called.
In the quiet vacuum of suburban heat; amidst cheap beer, lazy afternoons, and flickering VHS tapes, the two boys circle each other carefully. Clumsily, suspended between friendship and the quiet, electric possibility of something more. As Steve draws Eddie into his world—his silence, his contradictions, his need to feel something he can’t name—Eddie finds himself both transfixed and untethered.
"You been thinking about it?"
Steve's voice was sudden but careful."Thinking about what?"
Eddie kept his eyes on the pizza box he was folding. For a moment, Steve said nothing.
"Oh. Your game."
"Yeah. Obviously." He exhaled."Same."
Steve's reply was almost bashful.
"Kinda feels like I've been thinking about it all day."Eddie nodded, tossed the box into a bag. Tried to act like that wasn't something.
"You wanna—do something again?”

Summary
Steve is leaving for college. Eddie is staying behind. That was always the plan.
The whole summer, the gang has been inseparable—late nights, bad movies, and one last set of disposable camera photos to mark the end of it. But when Eddie gets his pictures developed, every single one is of Steve. And suddenly, everything he’s been avoiding comes into focus.
Steve just laughs, holding on tighter, and Eddie knows he could get away if he really wanted to. Steve isn't that strong. But Steve is warm against him, all sun-kissed skin and damp, and when he lets go, Eddie feels the absence immediately.
He hears a click.
He turns to Nancy.
"Did you just take a photo?""Uh-huh."
Eddie groans.
"Don't photograph this moment, Jesus. I thought you wanted good moments."Nancy smiles.
"This is a good moment."Bookmarked by knoxiousbabylon
